Before RubyQuest - like earlier that day even - I drew some comics about these characters acting up.
When it came time to do my quest, I played with a bunch of abstract designs but nothing was simple yet expressive enough, so I fell back on these characters who I’d drawn just earlier.The rest is history.
My only design philosophy for these comics was “draw as fast as you can, don’t erase anything”.
